All incoming freshmen are considered novices, regardless of previous rowing experience. The novice team is designed to help first-year athletes transition to collegiate rowing while building fitness, refining technique, and learning how our program operates. Students who are new to rowing are also placed on the novice team to develop the fundamentals of the sport.
The varsity team consists of returning athletes who have demonstrated the experience, skill, fitness, and commitment needed to compete at a higher level. Varsity lineups are earned through consistent performance, attendance, and dedication.
